Every year the folks over at Mad Magazine decided to publish an end-of-the-year issue that spotlights the year’s 20 dumbest things. Not surprisingly, the National Football League found its way onto this remedial honor roll of sorts.
The issue’s cover was posted on Twitter today by Michael David Smith, managing editor of NBC Sports’s Pro Football Talk. This particular edition appears to drop on news stands in February of 2015. The publication’s mascot Alfred E. Neuman can be seen sporting a referee’s outfit on the cover, along with an NFL logo with the letters conspicuously replaced with “WTF.”

The NFL has been a relatively easy target for criticism in the media this season, as several issues that have transcended the sport of football itself have appeared to afflict the league and its players.
From Ray Rice’s domestic abuse scandal in the preseason to the ongoing struggles of Adrian Peterson (who might not even play in 2015) due to a child abuse case, and overarching sentiments questioning the long term safety concerns with a sport so brutal. All this while still not mentioning the questionable adequacy of Commissioner Roger Goodell in his current capacity as the head of the league.
