Record vs. Bowl Teams: 0-5
Common Opponents:
Kent State: The Jaguars beat Kent by 10 on the road. The Falcons beat Kent by ten at home. Advantage: South Alabama
Prediction:
After a strong start, the Jaguars lost four of their last five games. That was when their schedule got tough. All four of those teams that they lost to are going to bowl games this season. Bowling Green ended their season by getting thumped by Northern Illinois in the MAC Championship.
Bowling Green did pretty well in the win over Indiana, but they got blasted by Wisconsin. The win over Indiana is arguably the best win for either team.
So what basis to I have for my pick? South Alabama is nothing if not a feel good story. Their first year in division one was last year. In year two, they have already made it to a bowl game. And it is one that is right in their backyard, so to speak. Mobile is only about two hours down I-65 from Montgomery, meaning the Jaguars will be very well represented tonight.
Pick: South Alabama
