Real Madrid Wins FIFA Club World Cup, 2-0

Real Madrid continues to be on top of the soccer world, as they’ve followed up a Champions League trophy by taking home the FIFA Club World Cup in a 2-0 victory.

It’s been the year of Real Madrid over in Europe, as the club has managed to continue their winning ways throughout multiple runs in tournaments this year. This summer saw Real Madrid capture the club’s tenth UEFA Champions League final in club history and the first since 2002.

That win not only served as a return to glory for one of the most prestigious clubs in the world, but it qualified Real Madrid for the FIFA Club World Cup, which they promptly ran the tables on and won in shutout fashion on Saturday over San Lorenzo.

Sergio Ramos and Gareth Bale were the big hero of the day, as both players scored the only two goals of the match. Cristiano Ronaldo had four total shots and two shots on goal in the match but was unable to strike pay dirt with either of his scoring chances.

While San Lorenzo had managed to make it to the FIFA Club World Cup Final against heavily favored Real Madrid, it was a rather decisive victory for the cub everyone expected to win. San Lorenzo managed to get no solid scoring chances — a testament to the Real Madrid defense on Saturday night.

Real Madrid also managed to possess the ball for well of half the match, which greatly limited the amount of scoring chances San Lorenzo could have hoped to put together.

Not that many are surprised, but Real Madrid appears to be back after years of being popular with the people but not champions of them. Now, with a roster that boasts talent like Gareth Bale, Ronaldo, Sergio Ramos and Karim Benzema — to name a few — the club is back on top and poised to be back to their dominating ways for a very long time to come.
