NFL Playoffs: Baltimore Ravens Playoff Scenarios
By Josh Hill
With one week to play, the race to the NFL Playoffs is down to the wire but the Baltimore Ravens are still in the hunt to claim the No. 6 seed in the AFC.
The Baltimore Ravens lost on Sunday to the Houston Texans, effectively keeping Houston alive in the postseason hunt and forcing the Ravens to have to win and pray for help to make it to the playoffs.

Baltimore losing means that they must beat the Cleveland Browns on Sunday to have any chance of making it to the postseason. Had they beaten the Texans on Sunday in Week 16, they would be controlling their own playoff destiny. Since they lost, the Ravens will need to win on Sunday and then hope that the San Diego Chargers lose to the Kansas City Chiefs.
If that happens, then the Ravens are in, but even if Baltimore wins on Sunday and beats the Browns, a win by the Chargers renders it meaningless.
So, the Baltimore Ravens make the playoffs if:
- Ravens win, AND
- Chargers lose, OR
- Bengals lose to Broncos AND Steelers
A dark horse scenario for the Ravens is that they’ll make the postseason if the Bengals lose out. Couple that with a win and it’s meaningless what the Chargers do as the Ravens and Chargers would be the last two teams in.
That’s a tall order, but it’s still possible for the Ravens to make the postseason with a win and some help from Kansas City in Week 17.
