Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr Nearly Loses Helmet (Video)

The Oakland Raiders haven’t done much well this year, but protecting the quarterback has been one of them. Derek Carr appreciates this … most of the time.
Oakland Raiders rookie quarterback took a hard sack in the second quarter Sunday, basically becoming the center of a Williams sandwich courtesy of the Buffalo Bills and barely keeping his head about him.
Carr was sacked by defensive tackle Kyle Williams low and linebacker Mario Williams high and his head—or at least his helmet—nearly paid the ultimate price.
Buffalo came into the game tied for the NFL lead in sacks with 49 and regained the lead on the play above.

But Oakland has allowed just 24 sacks this season as its retooled offensive line has been one of the few bright spots this season.
After falling behind early, the Raiders have come back to take a 13-10 lead at halftime. Carr is 6-for-18 for 105 yards and a score.
Carr won the starting job from former Pro Bowler Matt Schaub in training camp and has had a pretty solid campaign, completing 59.2 percent of his throws for 2,898 yards with 18 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
Derek Carr was a second-round pick out of Fresno State in May’s draft and is the younger brother of former NFL quarterback David Carr.
