In a rare showing of actual human emotion, New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick unleashed a smile upon reporters in this latest press conference video.
Those who are familiar with the NFL and all of its personalities can easily point to a few specific idiosyncrasies that have really stood out throughout the years. There is the near robot like demeanor of Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning. Or the prolific intensity of former Baltimore Ravens linebacker and future hall of famer Ray Lewis.

One peculiar behavior stands out above all others though. The stoic nature of Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is the stuff of legend. Nothing short of a fourth Super Bowl ring would seem to ever bring out even an ounce of emotion from the guy. So when a clip of Mr. Belichick cracking a smile appears on the internet, it becomes an instant commodity.
Why, you might ask, is Belichick smiling? Perhaps it is simply the holiday season. Or it could be that his quarterback, Tom Brady, is playing some of the best football of anyone all year. It could also be that his team has officially clinched home field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs.
Whatever the reason might be, the actual occurrence of a Belichick smile is kind of like a shooting star; rare but somewhat disappointing after all the build up. Oh well. Happy Holidays, everyone!
