The end of Josh Gordon’s tenure with the Cleveland Browns could be soon coming to an end after the talented and troubled receiver was suspended for the regular season finale after being late for a team meeting and that could seal his fate with the franchise.

Josh Gordon may have played his last down as a member of the Cleveland Browns and could be on the trade block after the former Pro Bowl wide receiver and last year’s league leader in yards was suspended for the season finale after missing the first 10 games of the year after serving a suspension for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.
According to ESPN Cleveland, it is doubtful that Gordon will return to the team for the 2015 season but it may be one year too late.
Cleveland nearly completed a trade last year with the San Francisco 49ers for a starting-caliber player and a second round pick before Browns owner Jimmy Haslam squashed the deal. The Browns are likely kicking themselves for not ridding themselves of this headache who has appeared aloof in thed five games he played this season and has declined to make himself available to the media.
#NFL source confirms #Browns WR Josh Gordon will not be a UFA after 2015 because of 1-game suspension announced Saturday (if susp is unpaid)
— Jason Cole (@JasonCole62) December 27, 2014
Gordon will not accrue a year towards free agency if the suspension is an unpaid one because he needs six games to meet the minimum requirements. As a result of his latest suspension he won’t be a free agent after the 2015 season, so any team trading for him won’t have the safety net of a one-year commitment.
After leading the NFL with 117.6 yards per game en route to an NFL-high 1,646 yards, Gordon has only averaged 60.6 yards per game and has 24 receptions for 303 yards and zero touchdowns.
