Moments after securing his 15th touchdown of the season, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant quickly found himself hitting pay dirt yet again – though this time it was in record breaking fashion.
With a Tony Romo throw sailing over Bryant’s shoulder in the corner of the end zone, the former Oklahoma State product reached up and hauled in the pigskin for an impressive catch.
Or was it?
Initially the ruling on the field was stated to be an incomplete pass, though Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett thought otherwise and tossed the red challenge flag.
It didn’t take long for referee Jereome Boger to see the play was indeed a touchdown under the hood thanks to some rather impressive footwork from Dez Bryant.
The touchdown was Dez Bryant’s 16th of the season, breaking the Dallas Cowboys’ single season receiving record which was previously held by Terrell Owens.
He of course wasn’t the only Cowboy to break records on the day as running back DeMarco Murray also eclipsed the single season rushing record which Emmitt Smith previously owned.
It’s been one hell of a season statistically for a handful of Dallas Cowboys, Dez Bryant included, who has morphed into one of (if not the best) wide receiver in the NFL.
