The “Frozen Tundra of Lambeau Field” has seen its fair share of moments, most notably the “Ice Bowl” in 1967 as the Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers faced off for the NFL Championship. NFL players feel the hurt this time of year playing in Green Bay. We can all easily reference Tom Coughlin’s frost-bitten face in 2007 for evidence.
Today, Detroit Lions running back Reggie Bush was not immune from the cold. and took a very unconventional route to warm up.
In the first half of a closely contested game, Bush caught a third-down pass underneath from quarterback Matt Stafford. As he ran for the first down, Packers defensive back Casey Hayward found him.
Maybe it was the football gods once again protecting “Title Town,” but it did seem very strange to see the punishment Bush had to take after he clearly face-masked Hayward on the play.
The Packers, behind a Willis Reed like comeback by Aaron Rodgers, currently lead the Lions 28-14 in the fourth quarter. Bush has five rushes for 19 yards and three catches for 22 yards. The winner will win the NFC North and host a playoff game in the Wild Card Round next weekend.
