3. San Francisco 49ers

Could Rex Ryan end up replacing Jim Harbaugh as the next head coach of the San Francisco 49ers? It certainly could be an option if the 49ers decide that they don’t need a young, offensive minded head coach.

They have been rumored to want a younger guy with a more offensive minded system, and that is exactly the opposite of what Ryan is. He would bring in a defensive mind to go along with a lot of head coaching experience. San Francisco suffered through an incredible down season after being legitimate NFC contenders last year, and it appears that Harbaugh is done no matter what.

Ryan would be more than happy to work with the type of defense that the 49ers have, and he would be inheriting a much better offense than he has in New York.

All of that being said, the 49ers will have to change their minds on what they want for this to have any chance of happening. They are certainly a great fit for Ryan, but at this point in time it doesn’t look like a very likely scenario for him.
