All NFL head coaches usually take the same route as it relates to playoff scenarios. Common coach-speak like “take one game at a time,” or “we can only control what we do” spreads through the locker room like wild-fire and becomes the code of language for players this time of year. Some coaches, especially the one who resides in New England, rarely say anything at all.
Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs took a slightly different approach.
When asked if he peaked in at all at the San Diego Chargers-Kansas City Chiefs game today while his team was facing off against the Cleveland Browns, Suggs was enthusiastically honest.
The only way the Ravens could sneak into the AFC Playoffs was with a victory against the Browns and a Chargers loss against the Chiefs. So, while Kansas City held a good lead against San Diego all afternoon, Suggs and the Ravens knew they controlled their own destiny.
The Ravens won by the score of 20-10, securing their place as a Wild Card in the AFC Playoffs. They’ll travel to either Pittsburgh, Cincinnati or Indianapolis next week for the Wild Card Round of the playoffs.
Suggs contributed to the cause today with a sack and two solo tackles.
