When you think of the Pittsburgh Steelers, you obviously associate quarterback Ben Roethlisberger with the storied football franchise but it seems as if the signal caller has passed the torch to wide receiver Antonio Brown, at least in regards to jersey sales.

That’s because the wideout beat out Roethlisberger this season as he lead the Pittsburgh Steelers in jersey sales, this according to the DICK’S Sporting Goods Jersey Report.

It was a close race between both players though Antonio Brown seemingly kept pace with Ben Roethlisberger’s sale numbers throughout the season and experienced multiple weeks of significant sale spikes, enough to power him past his teammate.

The sales were so impressive Brown actually was the second best selling jersey for any wide receiver in the NFL, coming in second to Brandon Marshall of the Chicago Bears. Antonio Brown ranked 15th overall and beat out fellow Pro Bowl receivers like A.J. Green and Victor Cruz.

Despite the impressive jersey sale figures, Antonio Brown didn’t appear to be a huge hit with female fans as only 15 percent of his jersey sales were sold in women’s sizes. The vast majority of Brown’s sales came from men who bought 55 percent of his threads. Youth sizes rounded out the remaining 30 percent.

Outside of Brown, the Pittsburgh Steelers had a significant amount of players who had solid selling jerseys during the 2014 season including safety Troy Polamalu, the aforementioned Ben Roethlisberger, tight end Heath Miller and running back Le’Veon Bell.

Although Brown’s jersey sales were some of the best at his position this season, he didn’t get much help out of the Pittsburgh area as most of his jersey sales were made in the Steel City with a smattering of additional purchases littered throughout Pennsylvania.
