Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles leads the team in jersey sales for the 2014 season.

The flashy running back out of Texas enjoyed a nice season amassing 1,033 yards rushing on 206 carries which is good for a 5 yard per carry average also caught 40 passes for 291 yards. He found the end zone a total of 14 times but still leaves Chiefs fans wanting a little more. And while Charles may have finished 13th in rushing yards he finds himself 31st in total jersey sales.

In a season that found the Chiefs on the short end of the stick in terms of making the playoffs, many fans would trade in the personal accolades for a shot at the heralded Lombardi Trophy that all 32 NFL teams start the season out fighting for. Not to say that there was something more that Charles could have done to achieve this goal but many Chiefs fans walk away from 2014 with a bit of a bitter tastes in their mouth.

The Chiefs did finish 2014 on a positive note that leads them into a postseason that already appears to have more questions than answers. Jamaal Charles and the Chiefs did accomplish at least one thing to put a bit of a smile on the fans faces by beating Philip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers and thus eliminating them from playoff contention. That left the Chiefs with a tiny glimmer of hope but in a league where you are needing the Cleveland Browns and the Jacksonville Jaguars to get wins for your playoff hopes leaves Jamaal Charles watching this years playoffs from the same spot that I am: my couch.

According to the DICKs Jersey Report the sales of Jamaal Charles’ jersey comes in at 31st overall, behind such players as Heath Miller, Jason Witten and the Seattle Seahawks‘ 12th fan jersey. All in all it was a decent season for the Chiefs and ended on a positive note in eliminating the Chargers from the playoffs, but I can’t help but think that Charles and company would like to have a few of these games over.
