The 2014 season was pretty disastrous for the Atlanta Falcons and the NFC South as a whole. Despite having a losing record the Falcons still had a shot to win the division and a playoff berth at the end of the season in the final game of the regular season.

Falcons jersey sales aren’t exactly the most stellar amongst NFL teams, probably because of their lack of success during the season. The Falcons finished 13th in the league in jersey sales.

According to the Jersey Report, which tracks the sales of NFL jerseys at DICK’s Sporting Goods stores around the nation and online, quarterback Matt Ryan had the highest selling jersey of any Falcons players, coming in 34th on a list of all NFL players. The next highest selling jersey by a Falcons player was wide receiver Julio Jones, who comes in at 47th.

Wide receiver Roddy White Comes in at 93rd on the list, giving the Flacons just three players inside the top 100 of jersey sales in the entire league. It is kind of embarrassing when you consider that Indianapolis Colts punter Colt McAfee came in at No. 68, that’s right, punter. Buffalo Bills rookie wide receiver Sammy Watkins outsold every player on the Falcons by comparison, including Ryan.

But with the Falcons deciding to part ways with head coach Mike Smith they’re looking forward to a bright future and certainly a lot of optimism will be infused into the franchise. That and the ensuing success might give all the Falcons players a boost in their jersey sales numbers, but I’m sure they’re more worried about wins than merchandise flying off the shelves.
