Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy was critical of Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh for stepping on quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

The Green Bay Packers defeated the Detroit Lions on Sunday to win the NFC North and the second seed in the NFC playoffs, which grants them a first-round bye. The game wasn’t without incident between these two divisional rivals.

Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh stepped on Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ leg in what appeared to be an intentional and malicious move.

“I didn’t see it live, I didn’t see it on the (scoreboard), but from what I’m told, I’m told it was ridiculous,” Packers coach Mike McCarthy said, via The Detroit Free Press. “There’s no place for that. That’s where I’m at with it. I don’t understand it, frankly.”

Given Suh’s long history of dirty plays, he loses all benefit of the doubt, but McCarthy still thinks he’ll plead his innocence.

“He’ll probably say it was (an) accident, he was getting blocked into him,” said Rodgers, via the Free Press. “That’s what (referee) Walt Anderson said. We’ll see.”

It is also difficult to comprehend that he keeps doing it when he keeps getting caught.

Interestingly enough the Lions were without center Dominic Raiola for the game, because he was serving a one-game suspension for stomping on a player during Week 16 of the NFL season.
