Rex Ryan was fired by the New York Jets on Monday morning, but his immediate future may not involve an NFL sideline – rather, an NFL studio.
When Rex Ryan was hired by the New York Jets, he was touted for the personality he brought to the team that smacked of everything New York. Ryan isn’t from New York, but his no nonsense and always blunt approach to his job was something that New Yorkers could relate to and it made him popular across the NFL.

Rex Ryan has a personality made for the world of television, and that might be where he takes his talents next. The Atlanta Falcons and Chicago Bears seem like natural fits for Ryan, but he may end up heading to the world of television if nothing comes together.
If no head coaching jobs materialize for Rex Ryan — which they almost certainly will — he will make all of our dreams come true and take his wise-cracking wit to the world of television as an analyst.
So should Rex Ryan pursue a career in television? It’s actually more of a perfect fit than it may already seem. Rex Ryan is one of the more original personalities in the NFL but he knows his stuff at the same time. He’s still a we’ll respected head coach, as news of his firing was met with cheers for his freedom rather than scolding for his firing.
He’s more than likely going to get another job in the NFL before the 2015 season kicks off, but a move to television wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world either.
The bidding war will be outrageous to acquire Rex Ryan’s talents, as there isn’t a bigger personality in the world of football toady. Rex Ryan was never afraid to speak his mind, which made him a favorite among fans when the going was good, and even when it wasn’t.
Perhaps this can be a way for ESPN to get rid of Ray Lewis and his stupid hats on Monday Night Countdown. While Rex Ryan deserves to be on Sunday NFL Countdown next to Mike Ditka, if losing him as a head coach means getting rid of Ray Lewis then that will make all of this even more worth it.
