Following the Georgia Bulldogs win over Louisville in Tuesday night’s Belk Bowl, Mark Richt put to bed any remaining speculation regarding his future with the program.
The University of Georgia will have a head coach for its football team next season and not so surprisingly it will be the same one as this year, and years before. Mark Richt took to the media today to denounce any truth to the recent rumors swirling around the he might be considering retirement from coaching NCAA football.

After the Bulldogs cruised to the 37-14 victory over Louisville in Tuesday’s Belk Bowl, somewhat widespread speculation regarding the future of the team’s head coach had started appearing all over social media and news outlets. He spoke with Fox Sports following the game’s coverage.
“I have no idea (where that came from),” said Richt, who then followed up a question regarding his status as head coach heading into next season. “That’s the plan. Go ask the team. Nick [Chubb], did I retire?”
With a career win percentage of .739 (136-48) in 14 seasons (13 of them with a winning record) as Georgia’s head football coach, it is hard to image Richt being fired, especially just two seasons removed from a second straight conference title game appearance. For Richt, a late December bowl win is nice, but even he knows its back to business for next season come two weeks time.
