Matt Stafford’s fiancée, Kelly Hall, gave the NFL a piece of her mind after they handed out their penalty to Ndamakong Suh.

Detroit Lions‘ quarterback Matt Stafford’s fiancée, Kelly Hall, is not amused with the NFL at the moment. She believes that there is a double standard in the NFL, and honestly, she may be right.

Lions’ defensive lineman Ndamakong Suh was originally suspended by the NFL for their wild card playoff game against the Dallas Cowboys this Sunday for stepping on Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ ankle this past Sunday. Suh was watching the play down the field and took a step backwards right on to the ankle of Aaron Rodgers. While that may have initially been an accident, Suh did not really make much of an effort to step off of his ankle with any urgency.

Suh, however, appealed the penalty and won, reducing the penalty to just a $70k fine. He is therefore eligible to play this Sunday against the Cowboys. The league apparently believed Suh’s testimony enough to lift the suspension. Apparently Suh said that his feet were numb from the cold and he didn’t feel himself step on Rodgers.

I really hope that isn’t the excuse that the league bought.

Stafford’s fiancée, Kelly, felt like she had to get her two cents in herself on the situation. Ms. Hall posted on Instagram a picture of Matt with his sock all ripped up from a Packers player apparently stepping on him. Ms. Hall writes a caption under the picture stating, ‘Thank you. Pretty sure Matthew’s leg looks a lot damn worse right now from when he got stepped on/cleated in the same game. But it wasn’t Suh.. And he’s not Aaron Rodgers, so no one would think twice about it. #nflbias #givemeabreak #DETROITvsEVERYBODY’.

Let’s be honest here. Ndomakong Suh is not going to win an sportsmanship or gentleman-like conduct awards. He most likely knew exactly what he was doing when his foot was on top of Aaron Rodgers. He does have a history of doing these sort of things so it does warrant the league keeping an eye on him. I honestly feel that the suspension was warranted because there should be no tolerance for acts like this in the NFL.

That being said, I agree with Ms. Hall that there is a double standard at times. There are many other players that do this sort of thing in the heat of the moment but no punishment is ever handed down or they don’t get any attention because they’re not known for doing that type of thing. The NFL needs to have an even keel disciplinary plan for acts of unsportsmanlike conduct such as this, no matter who is involved.
