Iowa kick returner Jonathan Parker pretty much forgot the rules of football on this kick return in the Taxslayer Bowl.

We see some of the best moments that the game of football has to offer on kickoffs, however at the same time, we can also see some of the worst. On Friday in the Taxslayer Bowl, we saw one of the absolute worst, thanks to Iowa’s Jonathan Parker.

Iowa is having a pretty rough time in their bowl outing against the Tennessee Volunteers, so there really is no reason to shoot themselves in the foot. But, nonetheless, that is exactly what Parker did on a kick return.

After another Tennessee score, Parker fielded the ensuing kickoff and found himself nearing the sideline. Well, in what had to simply be a moment of sheer panic, Parker inexplicably tried to pass the ball to a teammate, and he almost paid dearly for it.

Now this play was reviewed and it was determined that it was an illegal forward pass. Iowa got to keep the ball, but they were still flagged for the transgression.

But for future reference, that is not how you do football, Jonathan Parker.
