Ronald Jones II is headed to play his college football at USC after committing to the Steve Sarkisian and the Trojans in the first quarter of the Under Armour All-American Game.
Jones (Mckinney, TX McKinney North) is a 6-0, 185-pound running back with 4.45 speed and is the 19th member of the Trojans recruiting class that ranks eighth in the nation and first in the Pac-12.

Ranked as the nation’s No. 82 overall recruit regardless of position, No. 9 running back and the No. 11 player in the state of Texas, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Jones is the fourth highest recruit on board for USC who has a chance to add to their riches before signing day and finish with a potential top-five class.
Jones ran for 2,0009 yards as a senior with 28 touchdowns, one year after rushing for 2,406 yards and 39 touchdowns as a junior.
He has the ability to be a dual-threat running back who can make plays with his feet as a runner and as a receiver out of the backfield. His combination of speed, agility, change of direction skills and vision make him a nightmare for defenses to contend with in the open field.
Jones was previously committed to Oklahoma State but decommitted on Dec. 14 after taking official visits to USC on Dec. 6 and to Notre Dame on Dec. 12.
This is a nice addition for Sarkisian and recruiters Chris Wilson and Johnny Nansen to add an explosive playmaker like Jones who can take it to the house from anywhere on the field when the ball is in his hands.
He could be a change-of-pace back initially and be the home run hitter after a power back beats up on the defense and would make it easier for the fresh legs of Jones to come in and victimize the defense for a long gain. His ability to catch passes out of the backfield and his long strides and power combination has resulted in ESPN’s Tom Luginbill comparing him to NFL rushing champion, DeMarco Murray.
