Kevin Durant, Ty Lawson talk about playing on Washington Wizards together
By Sam Richmond
Denver Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson revealed that he and Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant have discussed joining forces on the Washington Wizards.
Well, this certainly won’t stop the speculation that Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant is considering returning home to play for the Washington Wizards when he’s a free agent in 2016.

Denver Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson CSN Washington that he and Durant have discussed teaming up on the Wizards together.
"Lawson, who grew up playing basketball with Durant in the Maryland suburbs, has a good idea of the Oklahoma City Thunder star’s thinking. The Clinton, Maryland native knows we want to know. He also knows better than to break confidences.“I’ve talked to him about it, but I probably can’t tell you what he said,” Lawson laughingly told CSNwashington.com when the Nuggets visited last month.(…)“We talked about it. Everybody going home and playing for their respective cities,” Lawson said. “It would be cool, especially playing with the people you grew up with. I grew up with KD. It would be fun to play with them on one team.”"
The Wizards don’t really need Lawson as they have a pretty good point guard on their team named John Wall, but one better believe Washington would find room for him if Durant and Lawson are a package deal.
While it seems likely that Durant remains on the Thunder for the foreseeable future, it’s certainly interesting that he’s discussed the idea of going home with another player. Also, reading between the lines of Lawson’s close, it certainly seems like Durant has expressed interest in the idea to the Nuggets point guard.
There’s no doubt that Durant would be a game-changing piece for the Wizards. Washington has an excellent young core with John Wall and Bradley Beal and Durant could make them ready to compete for a championship in 2016.
There’s a strong argument to be made that Durant is the best player in the NBA these days, as he won the league’s MVP last season and is off to an excellent start this year despite dealing with a foot injury to begin the season. He’s averaging 25.5 points 54.9 percent shooting from the field with 5.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.
Lawson, on the other hand, is having a solid season for Denver, averaging 16.3 points on 41.7 percent shooting from the field with 10.2 assists per game.
