Police investigating Florida State tire slashing incident following Rose Bowl

The Florida State Seminoles got blown out in the Rose Bowl, but when they came home to Tallahassee they were not greeted with open arms.

Florida State got blown out so badly in the Rose Bowl that the police are now involved. No one is investigating the criminally awful play by the Seminoles on Thursday afternoon, rather there has been an investigation into the reception that the Noles got upon returning to Tallahassee.

On Friday night, Seminoles players began to tweet out that cars had been keyed and tires had been slashed upon returning to Tallahassee. This is now something that the local police are looking into as vandalism stemming from Rose Bowl frustrations is still a crime.

According to Tallahassee Police, the incident in question is currently under investigation by their department although no new information or leads have arose just yet.

"“The officers investigating at the time could not determine a time frame of when the vehicles were damaged,” FSUPD spokesman Maj. Jim Russell told the paper via email, “so we don’t know of the damage happened before or after the bowl game.”"

It’s a pretty low blow to a team that is returning home after a blowout loss, and there’s a good chance that this is an isolated incident with just a few morons involved. Still, this is a serious matter of destruction of property as vandalism is never justified. Had this been in response to a Florida State win over Oregon, the matter would still be no more positive than it is now — which is pretty low.

Florida State is a school and the players are students, which is the bottom line here. These aren’t multi-million dollar star athletes, their teenaged kids who know how to play football really well, and just because they had a bad game is not a reason to go slashing tires.
