Former Florida Gators quarterback Jeff Driskel has transferred to Louisiana Tech and will finish out his college career there.
Florida Gators turned in a terrible season this year and it ended up costing head coach Will Muschamp his job. There was a time when Muschamp was viewed as potentially the next big thing in college football after working under Mack Brown at Texas, but things have changed since he took the job at Florida a few years ago.

Namely, Muschamp is out of a head coaching job, and has been forced back into the role of defensive coordinator to earn back his reputation. Another casualty of the Gators terrible season was the career of quarterback Jeff Driskel. In an effort to try and salvage whatever NFL prospects he might have, Driskel is transferring to Louisiana Tech to finish out his college career.

Driskel isn’t the first college quarterback to transfer from or to a big name program, as stars like Russell Wilson and Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller are on that list as well. Miller hasn’t officially transferred yet, but his eligibility to do so is being treated almost like free agency in a way.
As for Driskel, he’s trading down in the hopes of eventually being a star at the next level. He has NFL aspirations, and he’s trading in what could be a lost final season at Florida for one that may bring hims riches at Louisiana Tech. It’s a tall order, but Driskel wasn’t a terrible quarterback all the time at Florida and moving to a school where he will be the star is a big gamble.
Louisiana Tech isn’t a college football power house, but Driskel has a better chance of showcasing his talents with the Bulldogs than he does with a Gators team that may get mauled by a different Bulldogs team next season. The NFL Draft success of Louisiana Tech players isn’t all the impressive but in the last 20 years there have been 22 players drafted into the NFL with four of them winning Super Bowls in their careers.
So the ceiling may not be as low as some may think for Driskel as he leaves Florida to finish his career on the bayou.
