UFC president Dana White was critical of the main event reffing made by Herb Dean in the fifth round of Jones vs. Cormier at UFC 182.
In the final round between light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier at UFC 182, there was plenty of grappling and jostling for position up against the cage. The fans were booing, Cormier was frustrated, and referee Herb Dean continued to let the stalling take place.

Dean is widely considered the best referee in mixed martial arts, so it was a surprise to see the fight continue with no action.
As it turns out, it wasn’t only the fans who noticed the lack of presence from Herb Dean throughout the last five minutes. UFC boss Dana White spoke up about the fight and Dean’s performance — which disappointed him.
“Herb Dean, I always talk about him; I think he’s my favorite referee. He did a horrible job in the fifth round,” White said following UFC 182, via Bleacher Report. “He let them clinch, literally for five minutes, but other than that, it was an amazing fight.”
Despite the constant clinching to end the fight, it was an entertaining, back-and-forth battle that showed just how dominant of an athlete and champion Jon Jones is.
