Terrelle Pryor worked out with the Kansas City Chiefs on Wednesday, as he continues to hold hope that a team will give him a chance at quarterback.
Give Terrelle Pryor credit: he’s not quite ready to give up on his goal of playing quarterback in the National Football League.
Pryor worked out for the Kansas City Chiefs on Wednesday in hopes that the franchise will bring him as a possible backup to Alex Smith. He did not play in the NFL this past season after being released by the Seattle Seahawks at the end of training camp. Pryor’s last tryout came with the New York Giants in midseason.

The former Ohio State star wants at least one more chance to prove he can play under center, yet his 69.3 passer rating and 9-12 TD-INT margin over seven starts with the Oakland Raiders in 2012-13 suggests otherwise. He has not played in a regular season game since November 10, 2013, when he left a loss against the New York Giants with a right knee sprain.
A host of NFL teams would love to see Pryor warm up to the prospect of playing wide receiver, where his freakish athletic skills could translate into at least a spot on a 53-man roster.
The 25-year-old has a 6-foot-6, 230-pound frame that flies downfield at the tune of 4.38 in the 40-yard dash. There are scouts who feel that Pryor could make a seamless transition to wideout, which could make him a Mike Evans From Hell-caliber player if he clicked at the position.
While Pryor looked a half-step better than JaMarcus Russell under center, he still owns the NFL record for longest run by a quarterback. Pittsburgh Steelers fans may want to turn their heads from the following video:

That’s a 6-foot-6, 230-pound man running 93 yards for a touchdown. Now you see why NFL scouts are hoping that Pryor will one day (very) soon become open to doing similar things, yet just not under center.
Pryor still has the prospects of the Canadian Football League if he really wants to play quarterback, yet it’s hard to imagine that his athleticism will go to waste. He can play in the NFL, no question. His athletic ability tells us that. If it turns out he makes the most of his opportunity as a quarterback, great.
Still, that video is just a sample of what he could do as a receiver. Imagine him catching a quick slant and taking it to the house from long-range.
