After weeks of speculation, Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston has decided on his football future.

Florida State Seminoles quarterback Jameis Winston will be forgoing his junior season of eligibility in Tallahassee and he will be entering the 2015 NFL Draft.

It was reported on Tuesday that Winston would not be making his decision until after the upcoming national championship game, however his father has told David Hale of ESPN that his son will throw his name into the NFL Draft hat for 2015, where he is expected to be one of the top quarterbacks taken.

This news is really only shocking given that it was just reported on Tuesday that we would not hear anything for a few more days, but the cat is out of the bag now.

Winston leaves the college ranks having only lost one game as a starter under center, with that game being the Rose Bowl last Thursday, where he and the Seminoles were blown off the field by the Oregon Ducks, 59-20. Other than that loss in the College Football Playoff, Winston has been all but unstoppable on the field.

Jameis burst onto the scene in 2013 as a redshirt freshman, and he ended up winning the Heisman Trophy, as well as leading Florida State to their first national title since the 1999 season. Winston and the Noles finished the season at 14-0, making the young quarterback a national phenomenon.

As far as projection in the draft goes, this will be one of the more interesting developments to watch. There are some that believe he could be the top overall pick at the position, while others think he will be the second one taken, behind Oregon’s Marcus Mariota.

Whatever the case may be, the one big name that a lot of people wanted to see in this draft class is now in. Jameis Winston will be off to the NFL.
