Brady Hoke has picked his former rival Ohio State to win the National Championship.

Former University of Michigan coach Brady Hoke was asked about Monday night’s upcoming National Championship game between the Ohio State Buckeyes and Oregon Ducks, and his answer was pretty entertaining, to say the least.

Hoke’s answer left some scratching their heads about what he just said. Hoke picked “Ohio” to win. Hoke didn’t say Ohio State, he said, “Ohio”.

Now, I think the obvious conclusion here, is Hoke meant the Buckeyes in shortened response. Obviously, to many “Ohio”, is known as the Bobcats for the University of Ohio.

Michigan fans already probably aren’t too keen about Hoke to begin with, and the former coach picking “Ohio” to win the National Championship, isn’t going to do him any favors in their eyes.

Although, he did at least follow the protocol of not referring to Ohio State by their full name.

There was reasoning for his decision to pick the Buckeyes. This morning on ESPN, he gave his reasons why he expects the Buckeyes to bring home the title.

“You look at this game, you look at the environment they’re going to play in,” Hoke said on ESPN this morning, “The Buckeyes have played the last two games in indoor facilities. This will be the first time for Oregon being indoors in that massive stadium.

Regardless of how he refers to Ohio State by name, Hoke is going with the Buckeyes Monday night.

Hoke was fired as the Wolverines’ coach on December 2nd, and many lauded the move due to Hoke’s lack of success. Michigan then hired former San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh.
