College Football Hall of Fame class of 2015 revealed

The National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame announced the College Football Hall of Fame class of 2015 on Friday that includes a Heisman winner, 15 All-Americans and two legendary head coaches with more than 400 combined wins and five national championships.

Jim Tressel, Bill Snyder and Ricky Williams headline the College Football Hall of Fame class of 2015 that was revealed on Friday that included a total of 15 players and the two coaches who combined to appear in 26 bowl games.

Joining Williams in the Hall are former Butkus award winners, Trev Alberts and Brian Bosworth as well as five other players who would become first round picks in the NFL Draft, Ruben Brown, Wes Chandler, Clinton Jones, Lincoln Kennedy and Art Still.

The full list of players who are now Hall of Famers is as follows:

  • Trev Alberts – LB, Nebraska (1990-93)
  • Brian Bosworth – LB, Oklahoma (1984-86)
  • Bop Breunig – LB, Arizona State (1972-74)
  • Sean Brewer – DL, Millsaps (Miss.) (1989-92)
  • Ruben Brown– OT, Pittsburgh (1991-94)
  • Wes Chandler– SE, Florida (1974-77)
  • Thom Gatewood – SE, Notre Dame (1969-71)
  • Dick Jauron– RB, Yale (1970-72)
  • Clinton Jones – HB, Michigan State (1964-66)
  • Lincoln Kennedy – OT, Washington (1989-92)
  • Reb Lytle(deceased) – RB, Michigan (1974-76)
  • Michael Payton – QB, Marshall (1989-92)
  • Art Still – DE, Kentucky (1974-77)
  • Zach Thomas – LB, Texas Tech (1992-95)
  • Ricky Williams – RB, Texas (1995-98)

Tressel won five national championships during his time at Youngstown State and Ohio State, compiling a 229-79-2 record with seven conference championships, 10 bowl berths and 10 playoff appearances while being the winningest FCS coach during the 90s.

Kansas State head coach Bill Snyder is the fourth coach to be inducted into the Hall while still active, joining Bobby Bowden, John Gagliardi and Joe Paterno and has a career record of 187-94-1 over two stints with the Wildcats.

Snyder has appeared in 16 bowl games and won two conference championships while building the Kansas State program into a consistent winner and gets to coach inside the stadium named after him for all of his accomplishments at the Little Apple in Manhattan, KS.

The ground will be inducted at the NFF Annual Awards Dinner on Dec. 8 in New York City.
