The Ohio State quarterback is blocking all distractions before Monday’s game against Oregon.

Ohio State has a chance to bring another National Championship back to Columbus Monday night when they face an Oregon Ducks team who dispatched defending champion Florida State with no problems in the Rose Bowl.

To take down a dynamic team like Oregon, who seem poised to capture their first title, the Buckeyes will have to be firing on all cylinders.

Cardale Jones took over behind center for the Buckeyes after injuries to Braxton Miller and J.T. Barrett this season. Jones thus far has been nothing short of spectacular, leading the Buckeyes to a win over rival Michigan and a playoff victory over No. 1 Alabama.

With the big game ahead, Jones is putting all his focus into securing another title for the Buckeyes. To eliminate outside distractions, Jones has blocked all numbers on his phone that aren’t coaches or family members.

Jones has stepped in as leader of the team with maturity and ease. He has shown the tools necessary to lead a storied program like Ohio State in the process as well. With his strong play and the potential of Miller transferring, there’s a very good chance he could be the starter going into next year.

If he rolls through Oregon the way he played against Alabama, there’s no reason he shouldn’t be the starter next year, if he chooses not to test the NFL Draft waters, which he is eligible to do.

The 6-foot-5 and 250-pound Jones has a rare blend of size and speed. His special talents and his attention to detail could lead him to being a Columbus hero Monday night.

For now, Jones is doing the right things to get ready for a game of this magnitude.
