LeBron James may be the biggest fan of Ohio State athletics and the King showed his support for the Buckeyes by giving the football team a pair of Beats by Dre headphones in advance of thee National Championship Game.

Ohio State plays for the national championship on Monday night against Heisman winner Marcus Mariota and the Oregon Ducks and before the game kicks off they got a special gift from Ohio State’s unofficial No. 1 fan, LeBron James.
The Akron native and big Buckeyes fan gave the entire team a pair of red and gray Beats by Dre headphones, according to Jasmine Watkins of Sporting News.
James is sponsored by the company and the brand is extremely popular among professional athletes, so this was an easy call by James to give Urban Meyer’s team a little morale boost before the big game on Monday.
Meyer tweeted a picture of the headphones in the school colors and a thank you note to LeBron who has an open invitation to stop by Columbus and meet and see the team whenever he can.
Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott also expressed his gratitude on Twitter and sent out a note for anyone questioning how legal it is for them to accept these gifts, saying athletic director Gene Smith wouldn’t have let them keep the headphones if it wasn’t legal.
He makes a good point and bowl games hand out lavish gift bags as it is for the players so what’s an additional pair of headphones, right?
So when you see Elliott, quarterback Cardale Jones and the rest of the Ohio State team with Beats by Dre on during pre-game warmups, now you know where they came from.
Perhaps it could be the team’s good luck charm if the Buckeyes can pull off the upset of Oregon and then I’d imagine LeBron would have to make it a yearly tradition of handing out Beats by Dre headphones or some other sort of gift to keep the good luck coming.
Hopefully he brings more luck than he did when he attended the game against Virginia Tech earlier this year when the Buckeyes lost for the only time this season.
