Steve Smith will show you absolutely no mercy when he’s out there blocking.

Steve Smith isn’t considered one of the best wide receivers in the NFL just because of his ability to catch the ball. No, Smith is considered one of the best of this generation because of his overall play, which includes his ability to lay a nice block every now and again.

Saturday night in the AFC Divisional Round against the New England Patriots, Steve Smith had this blocking ability on full display, and in a violent manner.

Watch in the video below where, after teammate Michael Campanaro makes a catch and takes off, Smith blocks the Patriots’ Kyle Arrington right off the field.

Sure, you want your wide receivers to make spectacular catches and what not, but a play like this from Steve Smith could mean just as much to a game as a catch could, especially when all is on the line in the playoffs.
