The Ravens Safety was called for a penalty and it appeared his team was backed up a long way

Sometimes the graphics in sporting events accidentally display wrong information, put up the wrong score, or have hilarious irony. The latest graphic courtesy of yesterday’s AFC Divisional Round game between the Baltimore Ravens and New England Patriots was a case of well placed irony.

More from Baltimore Ravens

Towards the end of the fourth quarter, when the Patriots led 35-31, which would be the eventual final score, the Ravens had one last chance to take the lead. After a block in the back penalty against Baltimore however, it appeared the Ravens were penalized a record “36 miles” according to the NBC graphic at the bottom of the screen.

However, amidst the confusion, the penalty was on safety Jeromy Miles, who wears, you guessed it, number 36.

Now, fortunately for Baltimore, they weren’t starting their possession in New Hampshire. They just had a player whose name was shown at an opportune time.

The “36 Miles” quickly became a popular on social media and many had fun with the word play given.

Luckily for the Ravens, the field position was more manageable. The Ravens gave it one last effort on the drive til Joe Flacco threw an interception that ended their chances and their season.

Maybe for the Ravens sake, they can get someone with the last name of “inches” or “centimeters” next time to help their chances.
