Ohio State and Oregon are halfway through the first ever National Championship Game as part of the College Football Playoff and scored 21 unanswered points after the Ducks got on the board on their first possession.
But as captivating as this game has been with Heisman winner Marcus Mariota and Ohio State’s Cardale Jones and Ezekiel Elliott its legendary actor Bob Newhart who is generating some headlines.
His doppelganger is working the game as one of the referees. You can see the resemblance in the pictures below.

Who could forget Newhart as the father to Buddy the elf in Elf?
For those old enough to remember him from The Bob Newhart Show and later Newhart, it should come as no surprise to see Bob take a humorous approach to his doppelganger and sent out the following tweet.
In regards to my new career as head ref for #OSUvsORE - Hey, I don't have a series any more - I had to do something. #OSUvsORE

There have been a total of seven penalties in the first half of the game so the doppelganger hasn’t been too busy as the Buckeyes took a 21-10 lead at halftime.
Maybe he’ll get a little more action in the second half.
