After thinking long and hard about the situation, he chose to announce his decision during the National Championship game between the Ohio State Buckeyes and Oregon Ducks. Walker chose to play his college football at Ohio State, and will be yet another top running back to play with the Buckeyes. Urban Meyer has always been an excellent recruiter, and this is yet another big commitment that he has received.
Walker finished the 2014 High School football season with 1,607 yards and 26 touchdowns on 199 carries. Those numbers average out to 8.1 yards per carry, and he averaged 133.9 yards per game.
The decision was announced by Walker on Twitter, and it was the best of both worlds for Ohio State as they won the National Championship over Oregon as well.
It will be very interesting to see what type of college football player Walker turns into throughout his career. Ohio State will have Ezekiel Elliott for at least one more season and possibly two, and Walker will be poised to take over for him when he does choose to leave.
Ohio State has to be very happy with the commitment that they received from Walker, and he has a very bright future ahead of him. He has shown a very strong work ethic throughout his High School career, and if he keeps that up throughout his collegiate career the sky is the limit.
