Indianapolis Colts star quarterback is excited about facing the New England Patriots, and believes in the “harder the better” approach.
Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts shocked the Denver Broncos on the road last week in a 24-13 victory. They were not expected to come away with the win, but they are preparing to face the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship game because of their execution.

It isn’t going to be an easy game for the Colts, and once again they are the underdogs. Tom Brady and the Patriots looked old and washed up earlier in the season to some, but stormed back to claim the No. 1 overall seed in the AFC Playoffs. Brady ended up playing MVP-caliber football late in the season, and it is going to be a very entertaining duel between he and Luck.
Luck talked about the matchup Wednesday, and how he is going to enjoy playing against an opponent as good as the Patriots. He had some interesting comments, but every athlete would likely share his beliefs.
“I think there is a competitive spirit in all of us, that’s, ‘hey the harder it is the better, let’s go try to make it happen,'” Luck said. “But we are just excited to play a really good Patriots team on the road. Maybe there’s a little extra excitement because of that, but to be in the AFC Championship that is great. But we got to go out and win.”
Throughout the 2014 regular season, the Colts and Luck boasted the NFL’s top passing offense. They averaged 305.9 yards per game through the air, and they are going to need a big game from Luck against the Patriots.
Personally, Luck had by far the best season of his three-year career. He ended up throwing for 4,761 yards, 40 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions. The Colts need him to take care of the football against the Patriots if they want any chance at coming out with a win, and he has done a better job of that this season.
At 25 years of age, Luck is looking to cement himself as an elite NFL quarterback. Peyton Manning was only able to take the Colts to two Super Bowls throughout his tenure in Indy, and Luck has a chance to take them to one in just his third season.
Whether the Colts win or lose this game against New England, they have had a great season and an impressive playoff run. Luck is without a doubt improving each and every season, and the Colts are growing into a legitimate contender with even more room to improve.
