Jim Harbaugh is keeping it all in the family at Michigan, as his son has joined the coaching staff in a not so small role.

When Jim Harbaugh took the job of head coach at Michigan, not many knew who would be joining his staff but it appears he had a few things lined up.

It didn’t take Harbaugh long to start filling out the position coach spots on his staff as he did’t have far to look. All he had to do was look at his own family tree to find capable coaches he felt comfortable enough to hire on his new Michigan staff.

According to a report from Wolverines insider Clint Brewster, Jim Harbaugh is keeping his coaching staff jobs in the family as son Jay Harbaugh has been hired as the new tight ends coach.

This really isn’t that outrageous of an idea, as it fits right in with the Harbaugh way of doing things. After all, both Jim and his brother John got their coaching breaks helping out their father Jack, with John getting the best break out of the two.

It’s very likely that Jim Harbaugh was going to get into coaching regardless of being on his father’s staff or not as he had the nFL connections to make it happen. But John Harbaugh saw his coaching career fast tracked with the help of his father, which is something Jim Harbaugh has to be thinking about when giving his son a job as the tight end coach at Michigan.

Not only does this hire have that sentiment to it, but it helps root the Harbaugh name deeper and deeper into the legacy of Michigan.
