Former Ohio State Buckeyes star running back Maurice Clarett gave current star running back Ezekiel Elliott a wise piece of advice.

The Ohio State Buckeyes blew out the Oregon Ducks in the National Championship game by a final score of 42-20 on Monday night. Star sophomore running back Ezekiel Elliott came through with a huge game for his team against Oregon, and totaled 246 yards and four touchdowns on 36 carries.

Elliott was simply too much for the Ducks to handle, and he immediately burst into stardom across college football.

Former Ohio State running back Maurice Clarett knows all about becoming a college football star on the biggest stage possible. In 2002, Clarett was the last phenom running back to lead the Buckeyes to a national championship, although he did it as a freshman. However, his off-the-field troubles would get the best of him, and that 2002 year would be all the time he would spend in Columbus.

Clarett decided to reach out to Elliott during this time, and give him a very wise piece of advice. He basically told him to remain grounded and focus on doing the things that got him to this point in his career, rather than allowing himself to get caught up in the present.

There is no question that Elliott has the NFL in his future if he continues working hard and improving his game. He already would be a very attractive option for a team that needs help on the ground. At 6’0″ and 225 pounds, he is the ideal size for an NFL running back as well.

Ohio State is going to be a contender once again next season, and they are expecting Elliott to come back even better than he was this year. If that does end up being the case, the Buckeyes are going to be nearly impossible to stop on the ground.

It is good to see Clarett reaching out to the young star and doing his best to keep Elliott from making the same mistakes that he did as a young player. Hopefully Elliott will take Clarett’s advice and continue focusing on what has gotten him to this point in his life and career.
