The Indianapolis Colts have begun working on a new blockbuster contract for quarterback Andrew Luck.

The Indianapolis Colts have seen Andrew Luck take them a step farther in each of his first three seasons, and he led them to the AFC Championship game this evening against the New England Patriots. He has helped the franchise get over the loss of Peyton Manning extremely quickly, and has already turned into one of the most talented quarterbacks in the league.

According to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Colts and Luck are already beginning to work on a blockbuster mega deal that would keep Luck in Indianapolis long-term.

Luck is very deserving of this rich contract, and put up huge numbers throughout the 2014 regular season. He threw for 4,761 yards, 40 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions. The turnover problem has been an issue throughout his young career, but he did improve on it this season and didn’t make as many forced passes.

At 25 years of age, Luck still has plenty of time to grow into his full potential. Even though he is already one of the best quarterbacks in the league, he hasn’t come close to the potential he holds. There have been a lot of comparisons to Peyton Manning because the two both obviously were drafted and played for Indianapolis, but he is a much better all-around player than Manning was.

Not only does he have a cannon of an arm with accuracy, he also can move the chains on the ground. At 6’4″ and 240 pounds, he is very difficult for defenders to bring down, and has the speed to pick up yardage when the defense gives him a running lane.

Obviously this is interesting news, and the two sides will likely figure something out before too long. Luck is without a doubt the face of the Colts’ franchise, and he is going to get paid like it.

Indianapolis is heading in the right direction very quickly, and their offense has been powering them to get to this point. Luck has a long career ahead of him, and the Colts are going to be Super Bowl contenders as long as they keep Luck on the team and put talent around him. Expect the two sides to figure out the new deal soon after the season ends.
