Adam Gase an option for Baltimore OC opening

The Baltimore Ravens have officially lost offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak to the Denver Broncos and they might look to Adam Gase as a replacement.

It was reported yesterday that it was very possible Gary Kubiak would be offered the Denver Broncos head coaching job. It was also expected that Kubiak would accept the job, if offered.

Replacement talk was already in the air, but just as quickly, some of those replacements have been ruled out. One big possibility was quarterbacks coach Rick Dennison, who would have likely helped the transition to a new OC be much less jarring as he was a Kubiak disciple and was with him in Houston. However, multiple reports on Monday have Dennison following Kubiak to Denver.

Another possibility was Kyle Shanahan, another Kubiak disciple, but he will be headed to Atlanta to be the offensive coordinator for the Falcons. So,the Ravens have to start digging elsewhere for their new offensive coordinator.

In a story by the Baltimore SunJeff Zrebiec and Aaron Wilson offer four names that coach Jim Harbaugh could consider for the position. Former Chicago Bears Head Coach Marc Trestman, former Broncos Offensive Coordinator Adam Gase, former Buffalo Bills Offensive Coordinator Nathaniel Hackett and Broncos Quarterbacks Coach Greg Knapp.

Gase is highly regarded by the Ravens and has been rumored to be on the move anyway. He was one of the candidates for the Broncos own head coaching vacancy until they decided to go to Kubiak.

Gase is 36 and considered one of the top offensive minds in the NFL. Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning speaks highly of him. He has the ability to work well with quarterbacks and helps them come up with effective game plans and take advantage of matchup problems.

Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco definitely improved under Kubiak, having one of his best seasons, and perhaps Gase would keep that momentum going.

"Gase never played in college or the pros like Kubiak, but he’s been the man talking into Manning’s headset between plays. Manning called him the “smartest guy I know,” Fox called him “a master of innovation” and Elway described him as a “genius.” (via BaltimoreRavens.com)"

Pretty strong words from the guys who have been instrumental to the Broncos recent run of success.

Whether it’s Gase or one of the other names suggested, the Ravens will face stiff competition for the remaining coaches, with seven teams still needing an offensive coordinator.
