Here are the late FanDuel lineups for January 19th:
Point Guards:
Bargains:
Derrick Rose, Bulls ($7,400): Rose has averaged 42 fantasy points in the four games since sitting out on January 10th to rest his knee. Maybe that is what it will take to keep him fresh this year. If it is, the Bulls will be very pleased. He is playing the Cavaliers tonight, so Bulls fans and fantasy owners alike should be happy with that.
Brandon Knight, Bucks ($7,400): Knight has done a fantastic job against backcourts that donāt defend particularly well. He gets another one of those tonight against the Raptors. Knight averaged 40 fantasy points per game against the Suns, Pacers, Knicks, Cavs, and Bulls in January. He should come close to 40 again tonight.
Worth The Cost:
Kyle Lowry, Raptors ($9,400): Lowry has struggled to find his shot over the last two games, but they are against two of the better perimeter defending teams in the league in New Orleans and Atlanta. Tonight Lowry has a much easier matchup against the Bucks. Lowry has not been the unstoppable force that he was for six weeks with DeMar DeRozan back, but he is still averaging 31 fantasy points a game with him back, including the aforementioned past two games. I trust Lowry more than an inconsistent Kyrie Irving and a struggling Damian Lillard tonight.
Risky Play:
Jeremy Lin, Lakers ($4,700): It looks like Ronnie Price is out again, which means that Lin is the starter. Great opportunity, right? Maybe not. Lin got the start on Friday against the Jazz and managed only 13.9 fantasy points in 30 minutes. He has a better matchup against the Suns tonight, but I still donāt trust him.
My Lineups:
A: Rose and Knight ($14,800)
B: Rose and Lin ($12,100)
Next: The Best Options Are Worth It At SG Tonight

Shooting Guards:
Bargain:
Wayne Ellington, Lakers ($4,000): Kobe Bryant is being held out again tonight which means another start for Ellington. Ellington is not anywhere near an elite option, and is barely a serviceable one, but he is a starter for 4k. He has averaged 16.5 fantasy points in his January starts with Bryant sitting. For those of you willing to take a little more of a risk, Nick Young might be a better option for $400 more. He does not start, but he shoots. A lot. When those shots go in, he can be a real fantasy asset.
Worth The Cost:
Jimmy Butler, Bulls ($8,600): Butler has cooled off some since his hot start to the season, but he is still producing solid numbers with Rose on the court. J.R. Smith is not really known for his defensive prowess, so Butler could have himself a big game against the Cavaliers. He has lit up the Nuggets, Bucks, Rockets, Jazz, and Celtics over his last ten games. All of those teams are about the same caliber on the perimeter as the Cavs are. I could see Butler approaching 40 fantasy points tonight.
Demar DeRozan, Raptors ($7,500): DeRozan isnāt quite up to the caliber that he was when he got hurt, but his minutes have steadily increased. His production has been about the same in all three games, but he increase in minutes means that he is back. He could go off at any second. Tonight against the Bucks seems like a good candidate for such thing. That said, he has scored 20 or more points in every game back. He has averaged 30 fantasy points in those three games, so he just isnāt providing much to go with the points.
Risky Play:
Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bucks ($6,000): Giannis has been all over the place in his last ten games. His minutes have fluctuated from 15 to 35. He points have fluctuated from 4 to 16. It is no coincidence that his fantasy output has fluctuated as well. All the way from 11 to 36.6 points. He has five games of under 20 fantasy points in his last ten games. Now that the Bucks are almost completely healthy, it is time for the lineup roulette to start rearing itās head again. It certainly doesnāt help Antetokounmpoās cause that Jared Dudley and Khris Middleton played well in his absence.
My Lineups:
A: Butler and Ellington ($12,600)
B: Butler and DeRozan ($16,100)
Next: Can You Afford The King?

Small Forwards:
Bargain:
Khris Middleton, Bucks ($5,400): Amid all of the lineup chaos in Milwaukee, Middleton has somehow managed to maintain consistent minutes over the last dozen games. He has also managed consistent output. The only time that he was held under 20 fantasy points in that span was against Charlotte (16). He has also been in the 30ās a couple of times. You pretty much know that you are getting at least 20-25 points out of Middleton every night. He is a good play for that reason on a night with no mid-range options at SF.
Worth The Cost:
LeBron James, Cavaliers ($10,900): In the three games since his return, LeBron has scored 45.9, 52.5 and 52.7 fantasy points in those games. True, two of those games were against the Lakers and Suns, but one was against the Clippers, who are fairly solid. I fail to see how the Raptors can contain him tonight. You almost have to find room in your lineup for LeBron tonight.
Risky Plays:
Rudy Gay, Kings ($8,300): Gay is still listed as questionable tonight. Though he was listed as out on Saturday and still played 32 minutes off of the bench. More information on Gay likely wonāt come until just before tipoff, but those of us in these tournaments donāt have the luxury to wait since the lineups lock at 7:30 eastern and the Kings donāt tip until 10 pm eastern. It might be wise to only use him in after hours tournaments once it has been confirmed that he will play.
Gerald Green ($4,800) and P.J. Tucker ($4,500), Suns: Both of them have been in flux all year. It has been especially apparent lately. Tucker leads the team in minutes off of the bench, but does not always produce with said minutes. Greenās value is limited because Tucker plays so many minutes. The trend has been that when one does well, the other does not. You donāt know which will be which though until the game is underway.
My Lineups:
A: James and Middleton ($16,300)
B: Middleton and Tucker ($9,900)
Next: Order The Kung Pao
Dec 15, 2014; Atlanta, GA, USA; Chicago Bulls forward Taj Gibson (22) reacts to being called for traveling against the Atlanta Hawks during the second half at Philips Arena. The Hawks defeated the Bulls 93-86. Mandatory Credit: Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports
Power Forwards:
Bargains:
Taj Gibson, Bulls ($5,300): Mike Dunleavy and Joakim Noah are both out tonight, leaving the minutes wide open for Taj to take as many as he can handle. He has done pretty well with Noah out so far, averaging 24 fantasy points per game in his absence. He is a really good play against the Cavs tonight, even if Kevin Love does play.
Amir Johnson, Raptors ($5,100): Johnson is inconsistent much of the time, but he also has shown the ability to be a solid contributor. He has averaged 26 fantasy points per game over his last five games, which includes his dud against the Hawks in which he scored just ten fantasy points. Tonight he could really take advantage of the Bucks, who are still rotating six guys up front.
Worth The Cost:
Pau Gasol, Bulls ($9,300): Gasol has been a beast with Joakim Noah out this year, just as Noah has produced much better without Pau on the court. Of course, this is only for fantasy purposes as the Bulls are clearly better off with both of them healthy. Gasol has seven games of more than 40 fantasy points in his last ten. That alone makes him a great option tonight. Add to the fact that he is playing the Cavaliers and Kevin Love battling a bad back, and he looks like he could be the elite option of the night.
LaMarcus Aldridge, Trailblazers ($10,100): Aldridge goes from a strong option to the best option if DeMarcus Cousins misses the game tonight. Since we donāt know his status yet, we will just have to let Aldridgeās numbers speak for themselves. He has averaged 41.5 fantasy points in nine games since his return from a respiratory infection. He is back to his old self, and is a reliable option no matter who the opponent is.
Risky Plays:
Kevin Love, Cavaliers ($9,500): Love says he will play tonight, but his production was down even before he was forced to miss Fridayās game. It isnāt all because of back problems. It has a lot to do with the return of the King. Love has just 48.7 fantasy points in two games with James back in the lineup as opposed to the 43 fantasy points per game average that he posted with LeBron out. I would not advise playing Love tonight, especially at that astronomical price.
Nikola Mirotic, Bulls ($4,500): With Noah and Dunleavy out, it frees up some space for the Bulls to get Gibson, Mirotic, Tony Snell, and Nazr Mohammed some extra minutes. Of course, we thought the same thing on Friday, and Mirotic only played 15 minutes. He is a high risk ā high reward play for tonight.
My Lineups:
A: Gibson and Johnson ($10,400)
B: Gasol and Markieff Morris ($16,000): Morris is playing the Lakers. Do I really need to explain further?
Next: Where Do You Go If Cousins Is Out?
Dec 30, 2014; Denver, CO, USA; Los Angeles Lakers center Jordan Hill (27) during the game against the Denver Nuggets at Pepsi Center. The Lakers won 111-103. Mandatory Credit: Chris Humphreys-USA TODAY Sports
Center:
Bargain:
Timofey Mozgov, Cavaliers ($4,400): His minutes have not been all that consistent so far in Cleveland, but he does have arguably the most upside of any center guaranteed to play tonight since DeMarcus Cousins is a game time decision and Joakim Noah is out. Speaking of Noah being out, that bodes well for whoever mans the center for Cleveland tonight.
Worth The Cost:
Jordan Hill, Lakers ($5,800): Hill has averaged 27 fantasy points per game over his last seven games, and appears to have put his late December slump behind him. Tonight, he will get to prove that more with a matchup against the Suns. I like Hill over the inconsistency of Jonas Valanciunas and the potential of Alex Len, at least for this one game.
Risky Play:
DeMarcus Cousins, Kings ($11,200): Cousins was just upgraded to probable, so for all of you that were hoping for a repeat from Jason Thompson, you should probably go switch that now. I still think Cousins is a risk because his ankle is likely not at full strength just yet. Add to the fact that he will be tangling with LaMarcus Aldridge at least some of the time, and you should keep your expectations lower than usual. Of course, that still means 35 fantasy points. There are not a lot of guys that can give you that tonight, but beware the ankle!
My Lineups:
A and B: Hill ($5,800)
