Former Buffalo Bills great and Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly remains cancer free after an updated scan.

NFL Hall of Famer Jim Kelly may have taken the long road to get here, but it seems his struggles were worth it. His wife Jill posted to Instagram to let fans know that the former Buffalo Bills quarterback is still cancer free after fighting cancer and infection for nearly the last year. He has now been without cancer for nearly five months.

Jim Kelly has now been cancer free since September, when he originally received such a diagnosis. This followed months of intensive chemotherapy, which should have put Kelly in the clear, but a MRSA infection later emerged that set him back another month or two.

Now it appears that the Hall of Fame quarterback is over both cancer and infection as he looks to continue in good health, per his wife’s Instagram.

Jim Kelly has been one of the faces of the new Buffalo Bills regime under co-owners Terry and Kim Pegula. Kelly was seen along the sidelines of nearly every home game at Ralph Wilson Stadium this season, where the Bills went 5-3 en route to a 9-7 overall record — their first winning record since 2004.

Kelly’s battle with cancer was front and center for a national audience when the Bills played the New York Giants in the Hall of Fame Game in August. There, former Bills receiver Andre Reed was inducted in Canton, Ohio. His speech culminated in Reed taking one final pass from Kelly, both men donning gold jackets.
