The controversial Uruguayan signed for the Catalans in a record £75 million deal and is yet to replicate the form he showed at Anfield last season where Suarez’s 31 league goals helped Liverpool finish second in the Premier League.

After a poor display against Atletico in the first leg of their Copa del Rey quarterfinal clash where Suarez missed a golden opportunity and had his fair share of dives, it now makes for five goals in 16 games for the Spanish side.

However, Suarez still has the support of the Barcelona hierarchy.

"“We have very high expectations, he is a great player. He has the support and the affection of the people,” Bartomeu said."

Luis Enrique also defended the Uruguayan:

"“Perhaps he didn’t have the fortune to score today but he fixed himself to the centre-backs very well, he gave us solutions, he was a danger near the area. The goals will come, there are no doubts with him.”"

While Suarez has shown flashes of his brilliance and in fairness, has recorded eight assists, fans are still rightly expectant of more from the Uruguayan.

However, Suarez should only be judged after a full season as due to his World Cup ban, he has only really had just three months of competitive game time.
