Justin Forsett, the Baltimore Ravens’ Pro Bowl running back plans on returning to the team next season.

Justin Forsett had bounced around the league for the first seven years of his career. Finally, after 2014 and a year with the Ravens, it appears he has finally found a home in Baltimore. Forsett, the 2008 product out of California, had his breakout year this past season, proving it’s never too late to take that next step in your career. Now, he wants to stay in the place where has finally made his name.

Forsett, made the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career this season, which highlights just how big of a year he had with the Ravens.

Forsett averaged 5.4 yards per carry on the ground and rushed his way 1,266 yards and eight touchdowns.

With a career year, it’s easy to see why Forsett wants to return to a team that he had success with. A team with a winning culture too. Without Forsett, the Ravens probably don’t get to the AFC Divisional Round where they fell just short on the road to the New England Patriots.

Forsett was asked at Pro Bowl practice about his plan to return to Baltimore.

“That is the plan, they gave me my shot, they trusted me and believed in me enough to give me that shot so I’d like to stay,” Forsett said to NFL.com, “They expressed that they want me back. I want to be back, so we’ll see what happens.”

Even though Baltimore lost offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak to the head coaching position in Denver, new offensive coordinator and former Bears offensive coordinator Marc Trestman plans on running the zone blocking scheme that was in place that made Forsett finally have his breakout season in the league.

However, with Forsett being a free agent, all it takes is one team in need of a running back to throw big money at the running back. Forsett has spent his entire career bouncing around the league, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see him take an offer from Baltimore, even if it’s a little less, to provide some continuity to his career and most importantly have a place that he can finally call home for a while.

In the NFL, the ability to run the ball is important to having a successful passing attack, and when a guy like Forsett can get you five yards per carry, a quarterback like Joe Flacco becomes even more dangerous. Baltimore can’t let Forsett walk somewhere else this offseason.
