Here are my FanDuel lineups for January 27th:
Point Guards:
Bargains:
D.J. Augustin, Pistons ($6,000): Augustin blew up the Raptors in his first start filling in for Brandon Jennings. He racked up almost 50 fantasy points on Sunday. Donāt expect that much success against Cleveland, but he should still be up around 30 or more. As he showed on Sunday, he could beĀ a huge bargain until his price gets out of control.
Derrick Rose, Bulls ($7,000): Rose has averaged 36.5 fantasy points per game since missing his last game on January 10th. He isnāt quite back to normal yet, but he is producing at a high enough level to warrant playing in daily leagues. His matchup against the Warriors is not a great one, but there arenāt a whole lot of mid level options tonight, and he should be able to get up to around 30 fantasy points.
Worth The Cost:
John Wall, Wizards ($9,100): Wall has a great matchup against the Lakers tonight. He is currently riding a wave of three consecutive games over 40 fantasy points, and that will likely continue tonight. I wouldnāt be surprised if Wall outscored the rest of the point guards tonight.
Kyle Lowry, Raptors ($8,600): Lowryās production has been down since the return of DeMar DeRozan. He has not been over 40 fantasy points since January 14th, and has been under 30 fantasy points in four of those six games. He is hard to trust to perform at a high level, but he does have a good matchup against the Pacers. I wouldnāt be surprised to see Lowry at least flirt with 40 tonight.
Risky Plays:
Kyrie Irving, Cavaliers ($8,500): Irving still puts up good numbers when he plays around 40 minutes, but the Cavs may not need him to do that with Iman Shumpert now in the picture. The team finally has a little bit of depth in the backcourt besides the unspectacular Matthew Dellavedova. Due to that, they have elected to play Irving a little less. He has still averaged 38.7 minutes over his last ten games and 35.9 fantasy points. Those are good numbers at his price, but I still donāt really trust him against the Pistons, even with Brandon Jennings out.
Rajon Rondo, Mavericks ($7,400): Rondo is a poor shooter anyway, and when you look at his matchup against the Grizzlies, you have to cringe. The first time he played Memphis this year, he had just 11.1 fantasy points in 26 minutes. Stay far away from this one.
My Lineups:
A: Rose and Augustin ($13,000)
B: Lowry and Augustin ($14,600)
Next: Will Klay Thompson Score Big Against Butler?

Shooting Guards:
Bargains:
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Pistons ($4,700): Augustin wasnāt the only one who stepped up in the wake of the injury to Brandon Jennings. KCP had one of his best games of the year, and played a season high 42 minutes against the Raptors on Sunday. He still wonāt wow you with numbers ā his fantasy output was still only 23.6 points ā but that is a good output for his price. His minutes will stay up in the 40 range with Jennings out for the year, and is a relatively low-risk option because of his price and court time.
Wayne Ellington, Lakers ($4,200): With Kobe Bryant out with no timetable for a return, the job is Ellingtonās to lose. The fact that Nick Young only sawĀ eight minutes on the court on Sunday shows that the Lakers want to see what they have in their young guys. Ellington has been over 20 fantasy points in each of his last three games, and seems like a solid option for a bargain price. You know the minutes are going to be there.
Worth The Cost:
Klay Thompson, Warriors ($8,600): Thompson āonlyā scored 31 points on Sunday against Boston after dropping 52 on the Kings on Friday. His matchup against the Bulls is not great, but with Jimmy Butler ill and questionable for tonightās game, even if Butler does take the court, he wonāt be 100 percent. That makes Thompson a really good play once again.
DeMar DeRozan, Raptors ($6,800): I know, you canāt put too much stock into one game, but DeRozan lit up the Pistons on Sunday. Jennings missing the game likely had something to do with that, but it was still an encouraging performance for DeRozan, who has largely struggled since his return seven games ago. I would trust him against the Pacers tonight. Indiana has been lit up on the perimeter more than once this year.
Risky Plays:
Tony Snell, Bulls ($3,600): Snell has been in double digits for fantasy points since January 7th, but he still has not cracked the 20 point barrier. He may start tonight with Jimmy Butler ill, but I still wouldnāt count on him cracking 20. He has played more than 30 minutes four times in that span, and it has not upped his production much.
Jordan Clarkson, Lakers ($3,500): The Ronnie Price experiment seems to be over since Clarkson has started the last two games at the point for the Lakers. He had a solid first start against the Spurs, but was dreadful against Houston. Whether he starts again or not is purely a guess at this point, but with Nick Young out, there is a chance that Clarkson still reaches 28 minutes, which is where he has been over the last two games. However, unless he picks up the production, he likely wonāt help you much.
My Lineups:
A: Thompson and Caldwell-Pope ($13,300)
B: Ellington and Courtney Lee ($8,500): Lee has been solid for the Grizzlies, and is going to start again tonight.

Small Forward:
Bargains:
Paul Pierce, Wizards ($5,100): Pierce has quietly put up a 30.7 fantasy point average over his last three games. He also has a great matchup against the Lakers tonight. He isnāt going to play 40 minutes a night like he used to, but as long as he stays around 30, he can put up some good numbers for you. Especially taking on the Lakers, who are reluctantly rebuilding. Just be aware that Pierce has recently been defined as āquestionableā for tonightās game, so you may have to change your pick at a momentās notice.
Jeff Green, Grizzlies ($5,300): Green seems to be adapting well to his new habitat in Memphis. He is averaging 24. 2 fantasy points since his move to Memphis, and has even hit the 30 mark once. He is worth playing when he has a good matchup, and he has just that tonight against Dallas.
Worth The Cost:
LeBron James, Cavaliers ($11,000): Since his return to the court seven games ago, the King has averaged 42 fantasy points per game, and has cracked the 50 point barrier four times. King James is your best chance tonight to have a 50 point player. You likely need to find a way to get him in your lineup.
Khris Middleton, Bucks ($5,500): We have to sit here and wonder what Middleton could do with true starterās minutes. With Jason Kidd at the helm, in Milwaukee we will likely never know. Still, Middleton has put up 66.4 fantasy points in the last two games despite only playing 58 minutes. Jared Dudley has cooled off considerably, only netting five fantasy points agianst the Spurs on Sunday in 20 minutes. Still, if you are going to take a chance on anyone with a deer on the front of their uniform, it should be Middleton. He has not been under 27 minutes since January 4th.
Risky Plays:
Damjan Rudez, Pacers ($3,700): Chris Copelandās playing time has evaporated, and it is all the fault of Rudez. With C.J. Miles out tonight, Rudez could see an extended run like he did on Sunday against the Magic when he scored 24.1 fantasy points in 29 minutes. We donāt really know which direction the Pacers will go though with Solomon Hill and George Hill also available to fill the void. That makes him a pretty big risk.
Chandler Parsons, Mavericks ($6,000): Parsons was completely shut down by the Pelicans on Sunday, netting just 4.2 fantasy points in 30 minutes. The Grizzlies defense is just as good, if not better than New Orleans, so expect another off night from Parsons. Stay far away from this one as well.
My Lineups:
A: Middleton and Pierce ($10,600)
B: James and Middleton ($16,500)
Next: You Need To Spend At PF Tonight

Power Forwards:
Bargains:
Taj Gibson, Bulls ($6,000): Despite the return of Joakim Noah, Gibson extended his streak of more than 20 fantasy points to seven games on Sunday. WithĀ an injuryĀ to Mike Dunleavy and Jimmy Butlerās illness, it is possible that Gibson could play big minutes again. At any rate, expect his usual: 25 minutes and more than 20 fantasy points.
Nene Hilario, Wizards ($5,700): The Wizards have managed Nene well this year. He has been largely injury-free because they limit him to between 25 and 30 minutes a game. He has responded by averaging 26.8 fantasy points per game in January. Tonight he gets the gift of the Lakers defense, and should put up that number or better.
Worth The Cost:
Greg Monroe, Pistons ($8,600): Monroe has been a nightmare for opposing teams since moving into the starting lineup. He has not been under 30 fantasy points since January 2nd, and is averaging 37.6 fantasy points over his last ten games. He has everything a daily player covets: consistently above 30 fantasy points, and a great matchup agianst the Cavaliers. I am more comfortable with Monroe than any other PF tonight.
Zach Randolph, Grizzlies ($8,500): Randolph has not been below 30 fantasy points since his return to the court on January 9th, and is averaging 39 fantasy points per game in that span. His early season inconsistencies are a distant memory, and Randolph is once again aĀ fantasy force. Not like you need anotherĀ reason to play him, but if you are still on the fence, he gets the Mavericks, who have had all sorts of issues against opposing bigs this year.
Risky Plays:
Kevin Love, Cavaliers ($8,800): Love is inconsistent at best as long as LeBron James is on the court with him, at least from a fantasy perspective. He has been over 40 fantasy points twice since the return of the King, and has been under 30 three times. There is a strong likelihood that will happen against Detroit tonight. There are better options at lower prices.
Patrick Patterson, Raptors ($4,600): For whatever reason, Patterson has actually been playing as many or more minutes than starter Amir Johnson lately. Whichever one gets the most minutes is a strong play against the Pacers tonight, but you only have a 50-50 chance of guessing right.
My Lineups:
A: Monroe and Randolph ($17,100)
B: Monroe and Hilario ($14,300)
Next: Can Whiteside Do It Again?

Center:
Bargain:
Hassan Whiteside, Heat ($6,000): Whiteside set a franchise record with 12 blocks in just 25 minutes on Sunday. He also picked up his first career triple-double. He will get the start tonight against the Bucks, and you really have to be crazy not to play him with the issues that the Bucks have up front.
Worth The Cost:
Marc Gasol, Grizzlies ($8,600): Consider Gasol the player that those of you that can afford insurance should take. He consistently puts up numbers in the 30ās and 40ās with a couple of 50ās thrown in for good measure. There is a chance that Whiteside will outscore Gasol, but there is still enough risk involved with Whiteside to cause apprehension. There is none of that risk involved with Gasol.
Risky Play:
Timofey Mozgov, Cavaliers ($5,100): Mozgov was held in check by the Thunder on Sunday in a game where he had a good matchup. Now he gets to tangle with Andre Drummond and the Pistons tonight, which is a terrible matchup for him. I would stay away from this. I donāt care how cheap he is. Find the $900 to get Whiteside.
My Lineups:
A and B: Whiteside ($6,000)
