Atlético Madrid aim to nullify Messi’s late goal at the Camp Nou last week and book their place in the Copa del Rey semi-final.
Diego Simeone’s players are aiming to end Barcelona’s impressive run of form with a win at the Vicente Calderon tonight. The Catalan giants have gotten the better of the two sides on both occasions where they have met this season – both times at Camp Nou.

The Blaugrana have scored 18 goals in their last five fixtures, and conceded just one goal which came in a convincing 3-1 win over Atleti in La Liga.
Luis Enrique’s free-scoring side are booming with confidence, coming off the back of a 6-0 trouncing of Elche last week, in which both Messi and Neymar scored a brace. Summer signing Luis Suarez was also on target, as the heavyweight trio finally begin to portray the signs of the strikeforce that the Catalan supporters have been eagerly awaiting for.
Messi, who scored in both recent victories against Atleti, scored twice and set up another two goals for Neymar in Barcelona’s rout over Elche at the weekend. The Argentine captain has netted 31 goals in all competitions so far this season, and is coming into this quarter-final in flying form.
Atleti will be without the services of Diego Godin, who is serving a suspension, but Simeone will be hoping Koke will feature in center midfield after picking up a knock in the first leg. Barcelona’s Luis Suarez may have to settle for a place on the bench after being dropped last weekend.
