Gareth Bale dismisses Manchester United rumors

Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale has played down speculation linking him with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeau to Louis Van Gaal’s Manchester United.

Manchester United have been linked with a whopping £120 million ($182 million) bid for the Welshman, who signed a six-year deal with Real Madrid at the time of his world-record transfer away from Tottenham Hotspur in 2013.

However, speaking to Spanish radio station Cadena Ser he has no plans to leave Madrid before the end of his contract.

“I can’t imagine myself at Manchester United,” said Bale, via FOX Sports. “In a recent interview they asked me if I was unhappy at Real and I told them I’m really happy here. I’ve got several years left on my contract, I’m enjoying myself, we’re winning trophies and I want to keep doing that here at Real.”

Bale won the Champions League in his first season at the Bernabeau in a convincing win over fierce rivals Atlético Madrid, where he scored in the final. He has scored 14 goals so far this season, but was booed by supporters this month against Espanyol when he took on a shot at goal, and missed, when passing to Cristiano Ronaldo was the better option.

“There is no rivalry,” Bale insists. “I don’t think I’m greedy. On the pitch I make assists and score goals. I play the game how I like to play and the press can say what they want.”

Real Madrid currently lie in pole position in La Liga, one point ahead of Barcelona with a game in hand. Next up in the La Liga for Los Blancos, is Real Sociedad at the Santiago Bernabeau on Saturday, 31 January.
