The Colts have promoted Chudzinski from a special assistant to associate head coach

Rob Chudzinski has had an interesting career. He was the offensive coordinator for Miami for three years in which two of the years they were one of the most dominant teams in college football. From 2001-2003 the Hurricanes won a national championship and got back to the game again before they fell to Ohio State. Fast forward to 2015 and Chudzinski is being promoted to associate head coach of the Indianapolis Colts.

More from Indianapolis Colts

Chudzinski spent his first year in Indianapolis as a special assistant after he was fired as the head coach of the Cleveland Browns, with whom he had two other prior coaching stints with the franchise before becoming their head coach.

With his experience running offenses, Chudzinski is valuable to the Colts, and they wanted to keep him after the 49ers and Rams wanted to interview him.

The Colts had another successful season, advancing all the way to the AFC Championship, before they fell to the New England Patriots for a second straight season in the playoffs.

With the development of Andrew Luck and other young guys on the offensive side of the ball, Chudzinski will be valuable to retain to a developing Colts offense that is already one of the best in the NFL.

If the Colts can keep winning and perhaps take the next step and advance to the Super Bowl, Chudzinski could get another crack at a head coaching gig in the league after the mess that is the Cleveland Browns front office let him go.
