Aggies finally gets firm verbal commit from Kyler Murray
An in-home meeting with Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin finally (we think) convinced five-star quarterback Kyler Murray to reaffirm his commitment to the Aggies.

The sun shined brighter, the coffee more sweet along with an extra step of joy in College Station on Friday, as Texas A&M fans awoke to the news that five-star quarterback Kyler Murray would remain committed to the Aggies and will make it official on National Signing Day this Wednesday.
Murray nearly put the entire state on edge when he visited Texas last week, a shocking move considering that the Allen High star had committed to Texas A&M last spring. An in-home visit from Oregon and speculation that Murray would visit the Duck Factory this weekend further thickened the plot before an in-home visit from Aggies coach Kevin Sumlin on Thursday night finally led to the words A&M loyalists had been aching to hear:

With that tweet, Murray all but assured that Longhorns coach Charlie Strong — who was scheduled to meet with him Friday evening — will be altering his plans.
The nation’s top dual threat quarterback and 33rd ranked player according to 247Sports.com will enter Texas A&M this summer bidding to replace Kyle Allen for the starting job. Allen, who finished the season as the Aggies’ starter during his freshman year, led the school to a Liberty Bowl win over West Virginia after taking over the reigns for Kenny Hill, who eventually transferred to TCU.
Murray’s decision could have a massive ripple effect on the national recruiting scene, as five-star defensive tackle Daylon Mack and four-star wideout Damarkus Lodge could be swayed to join Murray in College Station, making Texas A&M’s already-impressive Class of 2015 into a potential top-five haul for Sumlin and his staff.
All is not lost for Texas, though. While the Longhorns endured the brutal trial by fire of Tyrone Swoopes last season, there is hope in the form of redshirt freshman Jarrod Heard, who will enter the spring as the starting quarterback. As ballyhooed as Murray has been, Heard’s prep resume is just as impressive, having won consecutive state titles at Denton Guyer while also being rated as a five-star quarterback.
News of four-star dual threat quarterback Kai Locksley’s reported decommit from Florida State on Thursday fueled speculation that Texas will go hard after the Baltimore area star, who made an official visit to Austin last week. Locksley is rated as 247Sports.com’s sixth-best recruit in the state of Maryland.
Mack and Lodge are also in play for Texas, which will make the final five days leading into National Signing Day a stretch that will not only play huge in the state of Texas, but for the entire national overall.
