The time to be patient and let recruits develop on the practice field, film room and weight room is a thing of the past with coaches and administrations pressured to win now.
Just last season we saw a group of freshmen running backs that may go down as one of the best of all-time. Oklahomaās Samaje Perine led freshmen runners with 1,713 yards and a FBS record 427 yards in a single game. Nick Chubb, Nick Wilson, Royce Freeman, Dalvin Cook and No. 1 overall recruit, Leonard Fournette all topped the 1,000 yard plateau and have bright futures.
Even the quarterbacks are pressed into early duty with Brad Kaaya starting every game for Miami and Kyle Allen taking over midseason as the starter for Texas A&M.
The Aggies also saw Myles Garrett set a SEC freshman record with 11.5 sacks andĀ Alabama started left tackle Cam Robinson from the moment he stepped on campus for the first time in program history. As these two former five-star recruits proved the best players will play regardless of their class or age.
So who will be this yearās instant-impact performers to follow in the footsteps of the Perineās, Kaayaās, Robinsonās and Garrettās of the world?
Here are the top 10 incoming recruits who are sure to be household names and make an immediate impact in their freshmen seasons.
