3. Portland Trail Blazers

When Roy Hibbert was on the free agent market a few years back, the Portland Trail Blazers were the team that tried to pry him away from the Indiana Pacers. Indiana decided to match the contract offer, but it was obvious that Portland felt LaMarcus Aldridge and Hibbert could play well alongside of each other.

Larry Bird would be wise to throw an offer at the Blazers before the trade deadline, and see if he can get a deal together. Players like Robin Lopez, Thomas Robinson, and C.J. McCollum would make the deal work, and it could be just enough for Portland to consider if Indiana added Donald Sloan in.

Those three players would be perfect for the Pacers, and would add three very important possibilities for them. Lopez is a recording deal or they could keep him, Robinson is a talented young power forward to possibly help replace David West, and McCollum is a young guard that Indiana could definitely use. As for Portland, they would be getting a very good defensive center to play alongside of Aldridge and a backup point guard who has shown major potential this year.

Both teams would be getting good deals for the directions that they are heading, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see Bird try to get a deal going with them.
